I think we can all agree that there’s truly nothing more enjoyable on a Sunday than having a big old clean and tidy, ready for the week ahead!
Ok, maybe not everyone will agree with that, but honestly, if you’re not incorporating a big clean into your day, you’re doing Sundays wrong.
There’s something really special about cleaning on a Sunday – I love the feeling of settling down in the evening with my studio all refreshed. I wanted to share my Sunday cleaning routine, so you can share this joy with me!
I definitely believe that ensuring your environment stays clean and tidy is extremely beneficial to mental health. In fact, one of the first things I notice when my mindset hasn’t been the best is my room getting messy, and I’m sure many of you can relate to this! For me, cleaning is an absolutely vital aspect of my self-care routine.
So, if you’re ready to start your weeks off on the best foot, have a look through this list and dive right in!*
- Tidy clutter
- Take the bins out
- Clean bins
- Open the windows and let lots of fresh air in
- Change bedding
- Do laundry (hang it on a clothes horse to dry for an extra fresh scent)
- Clean mirrors/inside of windows (ok, I don’t do the windows every week)
- Tidy kitchen fridge and cupboards/clear out food past its use-by date
- Clean kitchen surfaces
- File any paperwork from the week (e.g. lecture notes, bills etc)
- Clean shower/toilet/sink
- Clean bathroom shelves
- Sweep/hoover floor
- Clean any other surfaces (desk etc.)
Depending on the size of your living space, there may be other things to add/remove from this list, but making your own Sunday Spring cleaning checklist is well worth doing! There really is nothing better than settling down to sleep on a Sunday night in a super clean and fresh environment. For me, it’s definitely one of the best ways to start a positive and productive week.
I hope this week is a great one for you! If you’d like some more inspiration on how to get the most out of your Sundays, check out my other blog post by clicking here, or have a look at this video by Grace Beverley which was my original positive Sunday inspo:
*I’m very aware that doing a whole deep clean every week is not doable for everybody, for example if you’re struggling with a mental illness. I have highlighted in bold the activities which I personally think are most beneficial, so maybe if the whole list seems daunting, give one or two of these a try first (and keep in mind that if you can’t do any, that’s ok too – don’t be hard on yourself).
