Morning Skincare Routine: Summer Edition

I love a good skincare routine – in fact, I find taking care of my skin extremely therapeutic. My morning skincare routine is an absolute must and truly sets me up for a good day!

When I starting having acne a few years ago, I really began to invest in my skin and research how to look after it properly.

So without further ado, here is my current skincare routine for summer (I also take hair, skin and nail vitamins!)

Step One: Foaming Cleanser

My first step is always a good foaming cleanser. It makes me feel nice and fresh and wakes me up after sleep. At the moment I’m using The Healing Essence Combination Skin Foaming Face Wash. Once it’s all rinsed off I pat my face dry with a clean towel.

Step Two: Toner

The next step is toner, and I honestly can’t believe it took me so many years to start using it; it’s definitely the most underrated skincare product! I just add a bit of my Healing Essence Combination Skin Toner to a cotton wool pad and apply it all over my face and neck in small circular motions. If there’s one product I’d recommend adding to your skincare routine if you don’t already use it, it’s toner, because however clean you think your face is, there’s always that last little bit the cleanser won’t pick up! Toner will take care of this, along with a tonne of other added benefits.

Step Three: Light Moisturiser

I do like a heavy moisturiser, but in the mornings during summer I use a lighter one so I don’t feel too sticky. This also works better when I’m adding sunscreen over the top. I vary which moisturiser I use but it’s always an Avène one (one of my absolute fave skincare brands) – at the moment I’m using Avène Hydrance Light Hydrating Emulsion Moisturiser. Again, I’ll apply this over my face and neck using small, circular motions.

Step Four: Sunscreen (SPF50)

Once my moisturiser has soaked in a little, it’s time to add sunscreen – SPF is so important in a morning skincare routine. To be honest in the past I’ve slacked a little on this step, but it’s so important to protect our skin from UV damage. If I’m going out in the sun, I always wear factor 50 because I burn very easily, but I’m trying to make sure I wear it on my face every day now without fail, whether I’m spending time out in the sun or not! At the moment I’m using Eucerin Sun Sensitive Protect Face Sun Cream.

Step Five: Brow Gel

At the moment I have my brows laminated, so this is a really important step in my morning skincare routine, even if it isn’t ‘skincare’ as such. Once all the other steps are done, I use my Healing Essence Brow Gel to brush up and boost my brows with a little bit of extra nourishment.
